Delaplane is the music and songwriting of Richmond musician Brian Caperton. Delaplane has performed since 2014. Caperton is a Virginia original – honing years of practice and performance into a distinct folk sound. His lyrics convey Virginia naturalism through impressionistic wordplay. The music resembles [and borrows] from Nick Drake in its percussive, acoustic sensibilities. The guitars are often tuned open, the piano parts flow. Caperton’s voice – classically trained since childhood – holds the songs together.
